Synopsis
This workshop explores the concept of wound bed preparation (WBP).
What does this mean? Managing the wound bacterial load is essential to facilitating healing and starts with wound cleansing.
Managing non-viable tissue is another essential part of wound debridement.
How can we debride? What is within your scope of practice?
The second part of the workshop explores wound debridement and managing non-viable tissue with a hands-on session.
Sessions included:

- DD – Danger & debriding

Learning Outcomes:
At this workshop, you will:
- Explore the concept of wound bed preparation
- Explore wound cleansing, different methods to cleanse wounds and different wound solutions
- Gain an understanding of methods for wound debridement
- Investigate wound debridement as part wound bed preparation within scope of practice
Our Presenter:
Louise Webber
Masters of Nursing Science (Nursing Practioner), BA (Hons), RN
Louise has over 25 years of experience in Wound Management and established her Private Practice (Wound Therapies) in 2014. She has worked in several public hospitals and Community settings in Australia and overseas. She currently works collaboratively with several Aged Care Providers and private hospitals and runs her specialist community wound clinic.

Louise was previously an Honorary Clinical Fellow for Australian Catholic University and continues to participate in research projects with a leading Queensland University.
Louise is passionate about wound care and strives for best practices. Additionally, she has participated in several international working groups for Pressure Injuries and Leg ulcers and frequently presents at workshops, conferences & seminars.
She is a mum of two, loves the Sunny Coast lifestyle and attempting to play golf!
