General Travel Info & faqs

Travel is exciting but sometimes daunting, so we have put together a list of useful information, links and FAQs for you.

THE ULTIMATE GUIDE TO CONFERENCE CRUISING

If you are attending one of our Conferences located on a Cruise Ship this guide is a must read for you.

It covers everything from packing tips through to health issues and Conference etiquette.

SAFETY RECOMMENDATIONS

We recommend that you register with smartraveller.com.au as providing DFAT (Departement of Foreign Affairs and Trade) with your trip itinerary and contact details will help them contact you or your family in the event of an emergency.

Vaccinations

The vaccinations that you require when travelling depends on your destination, so we advise that you should talk to your local GP or click the button to head over to the government website.

CURRENCY CONVERTER

It is always good to have some currency with you for the destination that you are travelling to. Talk to your local bank or post office for individual advice.

The link below takes you to a currency converter to see how far your Australian Dollar will stretch.

FOOD SAFETY WHILE TRAVELLING

Travelling, eating and drinking go together. But, unfortunately, traveller’s diarrhoea and other food-related illnesses can sometimes come along for the ride. The good news is there are simple things you can do to reduce your chances of getting sick while travelling.

TAX INFO

You may be able to claim a deduction for self-education expenses if your self-education relates to your current work activities as an employee. For more information please refer to the ATO or your personal tax advisor.

DUTY-FREE

We all like to do a bit of shopping while abroad. If you want to know what you can bring back into Australia from an overseas trip see the link below.

PASSPORT AND VISAS

Are you an Australian citizen who wants to know if a visa is required for your trip?

Use Visa Quick Search to get the information you need for your destination. Select the country you are travelling to.

TRAVEL INSURANCE

Travelling is all sorts of fun, however, sometimes the unexpected happens. We strongly recommend that you take out travel insurance from the day you book your CPD Travel Event.

This is something you may like to discuss when you register to attend and make your travel arrangements.

Can you organise for me to share a room with someone?

We can't promise - but we can pop your name on a waiting list, and if another person asks the same question, we can put you in contact with each other, and you can decide if you are compatible with sharing a cabin.

Contact the fabulous people at Education at Sea on 02 7908 7774 for more information.
